People interact with the technology in some combination of:

Doing things

Understanding at some level what and why they are doing things

Developing new ways to do things using the existing technology

Creating new technology

The DACUM process requires a panel of at least three subject matter experts—ideally, people who are currently doing the job and doing it well.

In two days of facilitated brainstorming, the panel will create a task matrix that outlines all the duties and tasks required by the job.

This task matrix is then verified at least by the panel, but can also be reviewed and verified by other people doing the same job.
