Welcome to this presentation on cultural due diligence. Last fall we collected a great deal of information about the cultures of HP and Compaq that helped with the merger decision as well as integration planning. Due to the contested nature of the merger, we could not release the findings from this study until now.
HP top management felt a commitment to get back to you with a report of what we learned.
What we plan to do in this session are 2 things: 1) share the results of the Cultural Due Diligence study with you; and 2) engage you in a discussion about any questions or observations that you might have about the study or the integration process.
Many people from HP and Compaq were involved in interviews and focus groups. As you can see from the numbers on this slide, more than 1,600 people, representing all businesses in both companies, were asked their point of view on a variety of topics through a structured interview process.
That is a lot of input. We carefully collated this information, working hard to maintain the actual comments that you and others shared with us rather than our interpretation of what you and others said.
In this presentation, nothing is being spun. In other words, we are sharing positive as well as negative perceptions that were shared with us prior to the merger.
The findings that you are about to see have been shown, in detail, to Carly Fiorina and the rest of the EC.
